How To Play Cornhole

Cornhole is an awesome outdoor game that is family friendly and a very relaxing alternative to other camping activities. It is quite simple and best enjoyed on a fall afternoon just before dinner with some friends and beverages.

Cornhole is played with two cornhole boards, eight bean bags and four players; two players on two teams. The boards face each other with 27 feet between them. You can measure this distance with a tape measure to be sure, or just estimate the distance. One player from each team will stand on opposing sides of either board. This means that each player will be lined up beside someone on the opposing team. When taking turns throwing bean bags, players can plant their feet only to the edge of the board they stand beside – no closer.

How To Play Cornhole

An opening round should determine which team will throw their bags first to begin the game. The players standing beside each other will begin to take turns throwing the bags onto the opposing board, typically throwing underhand. During a set, the competitors lined up beside each other will alternate throwing their bags. They will throw four bags in total, one at a time. The goal is to land as many bags as possible on the opposing board, or to get the bag in the middle hole. Players are able to knock each other’s bags off of the board, and there are no points rewarded just for hitting the board, or having a bag on the board that gets knocked off. When all the bags are thrown, teams add up the points. One point is earned for each bag that remains on the board, and three points are earned each time a bag goes in the hole. The difference between the two scores will be rewarded to the winner of the set. For example, if a set ends with five points to two, the winning team will get three points. The game is usually played to 21 points.
