Canada has a government weather station called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/environment-climate-change\/services\/weatheradio\/find-your-network.html\">Weatheradio<\/a>. In certain conditions a thin sheet of ice forms on the road surface and can cause absolute havoc! The best way to mitigate the risk is to be aware how it forms so you know when to look out for it.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"how-does-black-ice-form\">How does black ice form?<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s caused by sleet, refreezing snow or rain freezing as it hits the ground. Prime time is sunrise or sunset &#8211; the coldest times most cars will be driving.<\/p>\n<p>If your RV has an external thermometer, and it shows around 32\u00b0F or below, then be on guard and don\u2019t speed, tail gate the car in front, or brake violently.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"what-to-do-if-you-hit-black-ice-and-lose-traction\">What to do if you hit black ice and lose traction?<\/h3>\n<p>The best thing to do is don\u2019t panic, take your foot off the accelerator, and let your vehicle exit the ice. Easier said than done!
