Campfire Apple Crisp

Equipment Needed

Ingredients

  • 2-3 apples
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp bourbon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granola

Instructions

To prepare, cut about 3 apples into very thin slices and gather the rest of your ingredients. Next, preheat a cast iron skillet over a campfire or a camp stove with a bit of butter or oil. Toss the apple slices in the skillet until they get soft and release liquid into the pan. This should take about 5 minutes.

After the apples have cooked down, add your brown sugar, cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and a shot of bourbon. Mix these ingredients together while slowly stirring. This will take about 5-10 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the sauce thickens. This will burn off the alcohol and thicken your dish.

Lastly, remove the pan from the heat, and sprinkle granola evenly across the top. Serve this dish in separate bowls and enjoy this delicious dessert! It might even help to add some vanilla ice cream for a perfect side.
